  Insights in Mining Science & Technology Abstract Complex work string dynamics are often observed when one is investigating the limit of Extended Reach Drilling (ERD), yet the underlying physical causes of anomalous problems are often not fully understood and is thus a topic of ongoing research interest. Theoretical models capturing tubular dynamics have been previously proposed to analyze force transfer in work strings, yet there is significant confusion regarding these models because their published versions are not entirely consistent and, in many cases, do not meet engineering requirement. Further confusion is introduced through variations in pin-pointing locations where axial compression in the work strings should be checked for mechanical integrity. Juniper Publishers - Demineralization of a Low-Rank Coal to Produce Clean Coal for Industrial Utilization

  Insights in Mining Science & Technology Abstract An investigation was carried out for the demineralization of a low-rank coal containing high ash (37.74%) and sulphur (8.65%) content to clean it for industrial utilization. The raw coal was evaluated by proximate analysis, total sulphur and Gross Calorific Value (GCV). Run-of-mine coal as received was stage crushed and ground under controlled conditions to fair liberation size. The gravity concentration technology using diagonal deck concentrating table was employed to produce clean coal. A number of gravity separation tests were carried out by varying different parameters i.e. feed size, feed rate, wash water flow rate and deck inclination angle. The final de-mineralized clean coal obtained at optimum conditions contained 13.04% ash and 2.61% sulphur and found suitable for many industrial applications. However, this principle is not really implemented because it is not well defined in the law. Proximity is also linked to the new consensual concept of the circular economy, which highlights the local scale. The objective of this text is to understand the implementation of the proximity principle in the concept of the circular economy depending on waste management channels. The methodology is based on an analysis of the urban metabolism of three French cities and in-person interviews with stakeholders of waste management. The result of this research shows that the implementation of proximity is quite complex and affected by the principle of “variable geometry” depending on the types of waste.
